Review- Etched out of an overgrown City backyard. Captain Bar was created. Edgy, creative and lovingly birthed, the bar is an old caravan tucked inside a paling enclave of bus seats, VB light fittings and timber pallets. It has been hunted, hewn and crafted to create a saloon befitting the First Fleet. No sailors here though, the patrons are hipster, socialites and scientists. Captain was created by two young Surfer Chefs with a desire to bring something unique to life. It has become an overnight sensation, drawing a large crowd who enjoy the bars casual laid back persona. They serve up an exciting array of locally brewed beer and cider. The bar is a fair weather affair, so pack your jacket or plastic poncho. However the boys other adventure There There has re-opened in the front as a tapas style Bar, so if you need to evacuate it offers shelter and some great food. Access via Tolmie place, opposite the entry to the Civic carpark (opp City Hall).
